Pac 12 Basketball Recruiting:

Stanford and Utah were the latest Pac-12 teams to pick up 2012 verbal commitments.

Washington is still seeking its first 2012 verbal commitment. The Huskies hosted Demarquise Johnson this weekend. Mark Knight at Husky Haul caught up with him and the 6-5 shooting guard said he enjoyed his visit, especially playing a pickup game with current UW players and a handful of local NBA stars including Spencer Hawes, Isaiah Thomas, Quincy Pondexter and Jamal Crawford.

This is a quick look at Week 5 within the Pac-12.

California and Oregon are off. All games Saturday. All times are ET.

Arizona (1-3, 0-2) at USC (3-1, 1-1) 3:30 p.m., FSN: The Wildcats are actually reeling for 3 weeks, but USC shouldn’t feel much better right after being whipped at Arizona State. The two teams have to have a win, but the Wildcats want to snap an eight-game losing streak against FBS foes.

Washington State (2-1, 0-0) at Colorado (1-3, 0-0) 3:30 p.m., FCS: The initial “official” Pac-12 game inside Folsom Field (the visit from California didn’t count with the conference standings). Both teams probably feel as if they need to win this game to have hopes just for bowl eligibility. They haven’t played since 2004, a 20-12 Buffaloes win. for the Pac 12 football team.

Washington (3-1, 1-0) at Utah (2-1, 0-1) 7 p.m. FSN: The very first Pac-12 football team game from Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Utah Utes will want to make a statement about belonging. Plus, the two teams are hoping to move up in its individual divisions. The winner might end up ranked. The Huskies are 6-0 all-time versus Utah, though the teams never have played since 1979.

Arizona State and Oregon Teams to Beat

Right after Week 4, there is absolutely no question about who will participate in the first ever Pac-12 Championship. With spanking USC, it appears like they are likely to run away with the Pac-12 South. Of course, Utah still my be in the hunt, we will know that outcome when ASU and Utah meet in two weeks in .  But right now, ASU is looking like the team to beat after they dismantled Southern California on Saturday night.

The Pac-12 North is much more complicated, together with Stanford and Oregon both looking promising, but with LaMichael James as well as the Oregon offense getting back to the high-octane machine that took them to the , Oregon can take the North.

ASU took down USC for the first time since 1999. They might have lost last week to Illinois, however they currently have two wins from and are among the hottest teams inside the Pac-12.

Certainly the power of the Pac-12 is in the North. No team in the South seems like they are going to be capable of challenge ASU. Even if USC can come away No. 1 in the standings, they aren’t eligible to participate in the Pac-12 Championship.
