Two PAC 12 Football Teams in BCS Games

Pac 12 Football Bowl Teams: 

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.–For the second consecutive year two Pac-12 teams will participate in BCS bowls as Pac-12 Champion OREGON heads to the Rose Bowl to take on Big Ten Champion Wisconsin, and STANFORD is Fiesta Bowl-bound to meet Champion Oklahoma State. Both games will be played on Monday, Jan. 2.

“We are free cialis excited to have Oregon and Stanford once again represent the Pac-12 in the BCS bowl lineup. Both teams are certainly deserving after having proven themselves over the course of the season,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott.

“It’s rewarding to see our teams get the recognition that they deserve. The entire Pac-12 bowl lineup features attractive matchups that our fans are sure to enjoy,” added Scott.

Oregon, which finished at No. 5 in the final BCS standings, is making its third consecutive appearance in a BCS bowl. Meanwhile, Stanford received an automatic at-large berth in a BCS bowl by finishing at No. 4 in the final BCS standings.

ARIZONA STATE kicks off the Pac-12 bowl line up with its first postseason appearance since 2007 as it heads to Las Vegas for the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas on Thursday, Dec. 22. The Sun Devils will face Mountain West Conference runner-up Boise State.

CALIFORNIA will make its eighth postseason bowl appearance in the last nine seasons as it meets Big 12 representative Texas in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

WASHINGTON is making back-to-back bowl appearances as it takes on Baylor from the in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 29.

UTAH, the newest member of the Pac-12 Conference, is making its ninth straight bowl appearance and will face of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 31.

UCLA, the Pac-12 South Division representative in the inaugural Pac-12 Championship, will meet Illinois of the Big Ten Conference in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Sat., Dec. 31.

The Pac-12 was unable to fill its seventh bowl slot with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.

Washington Heading to the Alamo Bowl

Steve Sarkisian knows a little bit about where he’ll be for the holidays.

“I’m just going to be happy that Christmas morning I’m going to be waking up in a hotel room,” he said Saturday. “That’s a good thing.”

Sunday, around 5 p.m., he’ll find out where that hotel will be located as Washington will officially be invited to a . The announcements will come after the final BCS rankings and pairings are released.

And almost all indications are that UW will be headed to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, a game played at 6 p.m. on Dec. 29 against a member  of the Big 12.

Washington has been rumored to be heading there since ending its regular season with a 38-21 victory over Washington State. And events of
the past few days only further seemed to punch UW’s ticket to Texas — specifically, Oregon winning the Pac-12 title and Houston losing the Conference USA title.

Oregon will represent the Pac-12 in the , while the Houston defeat — knocking Conference USA out of the BCS — seemed to only further  assure that Stanford will also be invited to a BCS bowl.

The Alamo has the first pick of Pac-12 teams following the BCS, and would have had to take Oregon or Stanford if either were available. Now,  it will almost certainly be left with UW, California or Utah as its options, and every indication is that the Alamo will pick .

A Saturday story in the San Antonio Express-News reported UW is “in the driver’s seat” to represent the Pac-12 in the game.

Pac 12 Football No 22 Washington vs No 7 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. — The first ranked opponent for Stanford this season hardly figured to come so soon.

After rolling to a 41-0 victory last year in Seattle, Heisman Trophy hopeful Andrew Luck and the seventh-ranked Cardinal will host the surprising No. 22 Huskies on Saturday night in what amounts to an elimination game in the Pac-12 North.

Both Stanford (6-0, 4-0) and Washington (5-1, 3-0) still have home dates with No. 9 Oregon in early November. So the winner at sold-out Stanford Stadium remains in control for a spot in the inaugural Pac-12 , and the loser will essentially be knocked out of the race.
