ASU is now in need of help. From a team they destroyed earlier this season: The Utah UTES… If ASU is going to be in initial PAC-12 Football championship game – they need Utah to beat UCLA this coming Saturday in Salt Lake City. If UTAH wins, ASU will regain the number 1 position in the Pac 12 football Southern division
- The Sun Devils fell out of both the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls.
- ASU dropped to 1-3 on the road. The Sun Devils’ only win came Oct. 8 at Utah, a game that was tight until an avalanche of turnovers buried the Utes.
- The last time coach Dennis Erickson won in California: Nov. 10, 2007. Since then, Erickson has lost seven in a row at the four Pac-12 California schools (USC, UCLA, Cal and Stanford.)
- Redshirt freshman Alex Garoutte missed three field goals, two coming in the final six minutes. His miss from 36 yards with 5:49 left would’ve given ASU a 31-23 lead. His miss from 46 as time expired would’ve won the game. Garoutte had made his previous six field-goal tries.
- Even after Garoutte missed from 36, the Sun Devils still were in decent position, leading 28-23, but they collapsed over the game’s next five minutes. UCLA’s Derrick Coleman had a 41-yard rush, the longest against ASU’s first-team defense all season. Later in the drive, the Bruins converted a third and 29 that gave them a first down at the ASU 6.
- After UCLA’s third-down conversion, Erickson mismanaged the clock, losing valuable time. “It was basically buy Strontium Bone Maker online my fault,” the coach said. “I tried to call timeout, but the officials were at the other end. I finally got their attention and so it cost us 10-15 seconds. The first down that they got on third and 29 kind of dumbfounded us a little bit.”
